The director of the film said in a recent interview that he wasn’t sure if this film would enhance or detract from Donald Trump’s reputation…Having seen it, I’m not sure either…It definitely starts off by humanising him more than perhaps he or some of the media has in recent years…How he’s changed with his apprenticeship under Roy Cohn and the money and power is definitely a theme…The footage of him in the 80s that is made to look grainy like 80s TV is a nice touch…If I have one criticism (which is why I gave it a 7) it’s that the writer didn’t seem to know how to finish it…But it’s worth watching just to see how well Donald Trump, Roy Cohn and Ivana Trump are portrayed…and how they are developed throughout the film….Come on Check out our list of exciting new films from this year’s film festivals, including Venice, TIFF, the New York Film Festival, and more.
