Plot
A Montana ranching family deals with other intrusions on their land. Forrie J. Smith, who plays Lloyd, is a seasoned hand in the world of rodeo. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his mountain accent and reverts to his usual SoCal-speaking voice.
Costner seems to fill the character’s boots naturally
His lifestyle is influenced by resort developers, tribal rights, and the authority of the Montana state. He resembles Rock Hudson from “Giant” and tries to hold on to old ways. “Yellowstone” is a fast-paced, action-packed story that unfolds at the natural pace of a day in the wilderness, stopping at tribal rituals, cowboy conventions, and political intrigue. It’s a far-reaching enterprise that lives in the seams between law and justice, family, and friends.
Country and family are his blood
He is a world-weary man who has seen too much and lied too often. He hears footsteps coming his way, but he can only fulfill his mission out of habit and loyalty. While some of the actions are a little confusing due to the inexplicability, it feels natural, as if the viewer is getting a genuine glimpse. a piece of life in another world.
I raise my rating to a ‘9’
I hope the resolution of this saga contains an emotional payoff that justifies its scope and attention to detail. Update 7/20/2018: After four episodes, this series has a strong voice and a steady pace. We learn the fullness of each story from the roots to the fruit. The new season of ‘Silo’; is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
