Our favorite “Alex Cross” series by James Patterson
Plot
The series is an adaptation of James Patterson’s novels about the complex and brilliant detective Alex Cross. Hodge is the third actor to play Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first played him on screen in 1997’s Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 sequel And Here Comes the Spider; and Tyler Perry as the title character in 2012’s Alex Cross, which flopped at the box office and forced Lionsgate to scrap a planned sequel, Double Cross.
Aldis Hodge is the perfect Alex Cross
As a fan of the character, when I heard that the books were being turned into a TV series, I was worried that everything I love about the books and characters would be ruined, as is usually the case with most movie/TV adaptations. I can say that my fears were in vain.
This duality is crucial to a credible image of Cross
Hodge has the commanding physical presence necessary for a character who is often portrayed as a brilliant thinker and someone who can hold his own in physical confrontations. His play reflects a deep understanding of James Patterson’s novels.
His game is likely to appeal to both longtime fans of the character and newcomers
He captures the essence of Cross’s character as a brilliant detective driven by a strong sense of justice. Overall, Hodge’s portrayal of Alex Cross combines skilled acting with a strong emotional core, making him an outstanding choice for the series.
